Drawing room with a white tiled stove, a brass chandelier and velvet seating, period apartment on Grevgatan, Östermalm

The drawing room and the hall

The drawing room has green walls, a plastered ceiling and a white tiled stove in the corner. Arched windows let light in over an organically shaped rug and velvet seating, and a sculptural brass chandelier hangs in the middle of the room.

The hall is the home’s first impression, and here it became a room of its own: patterned wallpaper, a crystal chandelier, starburst wall lights and a round table on glass legs in the middle of the floor. A large gilded mirror doubles the light towards the drawing room.

The kitchen in copper and brass

The kitchen is long and narrow, as so often in period apartments, with dark cabinets detailed in brass, a large range and copper pans on a rail along the wall. The floor is a checkerboard and the ceiling is clad in patterned tin.

At the far end is the dining nook by the window, with a round marble table and a wall in a diamond pattern. Read more about the materials in Delft pattern and copper in the kitchen.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

The bedroom is pale blue, with a crystal chandelier and built-in wardrobes with mirrored doors in a geometric lattice pattern. The same pattern returns in the doors between the rooms.

The bathrooms have green fish-scale tiles, flamingo wallpaper against black and white stripes, gilded mirrors and basins on cast-iron stands. It is a bathroom renovation where colour and pattern take centre stage, while the classic stays present.
