Bathroom with a striped ceiling in an archipelago house on Yxlan
A green-striped ceiling like a tent, patterned wallpaper, a checkerboard floor and a claw-foot tub. The bathroom in the archipelago house on Yxlan shows that a bathroom can be the most loved room in the house.

A bathroom like a drawing room
The bathroom is furnished like a living room. The ceiling is painted in green and white stripes radiating from a chandelier, the walls have white tiles and floral wallpaper, and the floor is laid in a black and white checkerboard. In the middle stands the claw-foot tub, and against the wall a marble fireplace flanked by two leopard figures.
Two basins sit under oval mirrors, and a green chaise longue and a black bench mean you can sit down. Read more about the floor in Checkerboard floors, three ways to lay them.
Shower room and WC in dark tiles
The smaller rooms are darker: dark tiles, wallpaper with birds, gilded mirrors and hand-painted blue tiles behind the basin. The shower is clad in chequered tiles in yellow, grey and black.
The bathroom belongs to the archipelago house on Yxlan, photographed for a Christmas feature in 2011.
